Angela JacobsonMusic Educator and Collaborative Pianist

Angela Jacobson is a dedicated and experienced music educator and collaborative pianist, with over 40 years of teaching and accompanying experience. She has worked with students of all ages—from young beginners to adults—guiding their musical growth with enthusiasm, expertise, and a deep commitment to excellence.

Her career as an accompanist spans a wide range of musical settings, including vocal and instrumental soloists, chamber ensembles, choirs, and musical theater productions. Angela is known for her musical sensitivity, creativity, enthusiasm, and collaborative spirit.

Since 2008, she has been actively involved with the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the Washington State Music Teachers Association (WSMTA), where she has served in numerous leadership roles. These include Chair of Adjudications and the Sonatina Festival, as well as President of the Tri-Cities Chapter. In these capacities, she has overseen competition requirements, hosted nationally recognized clinicians, and organized regular professional development workshops and student enrichment classes.

Angela maintains a vibrant private studio, where she has taught more than 1,000 students. Her studio features quarterly recitals, theory and performance masterclasses, in-studio competitions, and creative incentive programs. Many of her students have earned top honors in local and regional festivals and competitions, as well as scholarships to prestigious programs such as the WSU Summer Music Camp.

Beyond private instruction, Angela has directed a children’s summer Musical Dance Theater program for ten years and led youth clogging camps for three. She is also a frequent presenter on topics such as studio motivation, effective practice strategies, and repertoire selection for student engagement.

A strong advocate for lifelong learning, Angela recently completed her degree in Music at Brigham Young University–Idaho. She further enriched her studies through a Music History Study Abroad program, exploring the musical heritage of Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, and France.

Angela brings passion, professionalism, and a deep love of music to every aspect of her teaching and collaborative work.

First off, before I get into my experience as a student, let me brag about Angela as a person. She is one of the most genuinely kind and patient individuals you'll ever meet. It didn't matter what kind of day I was having prior to coming to lessons—I always left uplifted. She always treated me with the utmost love, balanced beautifully with high expectations. When I (or my classmates) didn’t meet the goals we set for ourselves, she was kind and understanding, lifting us back up and encouraging us to try again. She is someone I would fully trust in any circumstance.

As a teacher, Angela was incredible. One thing that stands out is her ability to integrate fun into what can be an incredibly difficult instrument to master. As a kid with my own musical interests, she let me satisfy my curiosity by learning songs I was drawn to, while still assigning me technical pieces that stretched my skills and taste. She recognized the learning styles of her students and tailored her approach to each one. I personally learned well with structure—checklists, clear goals, even “gamified” practice challenges—and she adapted her teaching to fit that. At the same time, she made sure I had a solid foundation in theory and sight-reading, and she created competitions and creative exercises that pushed me to grow. I guarantee I wouldn’t be where I am today if I’d had another teacher, and I’m grateful for the experiences I had with Angela.
